100 Stories · The Narrative Intelligence Project
How malleable are the stories we live by, and what does it take to change one?
100 Stories is a public podcast, video series, and qualitative inquiry into how the stories we inherit, absorb, construct, and repeat shape who we become.
Across 100 conversations, Paige Williams is speaking with researchers, artists, leaders, therapists, educators, storytellers, culture makers, and people whose lived experiences reveal something important about identity, agency, meaning, and change.
Each conversation explores a larger question:
What allows a person to recognize the story shaping their experience, question it, and live differently?

Why 100?
Because one story can change how we see the world. One hundred can help us see what repeats.
A single story can be powerful.
But Narrative Intelligence cannot be understood through one person’s experience, one discipline, one culture, or one theory.
So I am listening across 100 conversations.
Not because 100 is a magic number, and not because these conversations are intended to constitute a statistically representative sample. They are a deliberately broad qualitative inquiry.
One story gives us lived experience.
Ten stories begin to expose similarities, tensions, and contradictions.
One hundred gives us enough range to listen across different lives, disciplines, identities, cultures, professions, and forms of change and ask:
- What keeps appearing?
- Where do experiences diverge?
- What helps people see a story they could not see before?
- What makes another interpretation possible?
- Where does meaningful choice exist, and where is it constrained?
- What allows insight to become actual change?
The point is not to prove that everyone changes in the same way.
The point is to listen closely enough to understand the capacities, conditions, and limits involved in changing the stories through which human beings interpret experience.
100 conversations. One evolving inquiry into how human beings make meaning and change.
This is more than a podcast.
Every episode stands on its own. Together, they become something larger.
100 Stories is fieldwork for an emerging body of work on Narrative Intelligence: a human capacity for working consciously with the stories through which we interpret experience.
The conversations help test assumptions, reveal contradictions, surface new questions, and deepen the developing framework.
The ideas and insights gathered through the project will inform the foundational book Paige is writing on Narrative Intelligence.

The Conversations
100 people. 100 perspectives. One question getting deeper.
Researchers approach story differently than filmmakers. Therapists encounter it differently than executives. Culture shapes it. Identity shapes it. Power shapes it. Lived experience complicates every neat theory.
That is the point. Each conversation adds another perspective to the inquiry.

Not Every Story Needs a Silver Lining
Can humor actually change the story we are living inside? Lynn Harris has built a career around comedy and culture change, and she believes humor can do something argument often cannot: Make people listen. In this…

The Inquiry
The questions beneath the conversations
Guests bring different expertise and different lives, but several questions run through the project.
- 01What story has most shaped who you have become?
- 02How has the way you tell a defining story changed over time?
- 03What did you learn growing up about who you were and who you could become?
- 04Have you ever changed a story about yourself, another person, or the world?
- 05What became possible when that story changed?
- 06What human capacities make that kind of change possible?
- 07Where are our stories shaped or constrained by identity, culture, embodiment, and power?
The questions remain consistent. The answers do not. That is where the research becomes interesting.
The Larger Inquiry
What is Narrative Intelligence?
Narrative Intelligence is a human capacity for working consciously with the stories through which we interpret experience. The developing framework examines five interdependent capacities:
SEE → SORT → EXPAND → CHOOSE → LIVE
Recognition → Discernment → Flexibility → Agency → Enactment
SEE · Space
Make the narrative visible, creating space between the narrative and the person experiencing it.
SORT · Accuracy
Separate what is actually true from assumption, interpretation, inheritance, or projection.
EXPAND · Openness
Become open to other plausible meanings, perspectives, or possibilities.
CHOOSE · Choice
Identify where meaningful choice exists and decide how to respond.
LIVE · Living the choice
Translate the choice into how you actually act, relate, decide, or live.
Deliberately crossing disciplines and lived experience
Narrative Intelligence touches more than psychology or storytelling.
The project is bringing together people working across:
- Psychology
- Neuroscience
- Leadership
- Storytelling
- Film & Media
- Education
- Culture
- Identity
- Healing
- Social Change
- Spirituality
- Technology
- Organizational Life
- Human Development
Alongside professional expertise, the project includes people whose lived experiences reveal something essential about transformation, belonging, recovery, reinvention, cultural inheritance, and the limits of personal agency.
The goal is not to assemble 100 impressive résumés. It is to create enough difference in the room that our assumptions are forced to work harder.

I’m looking for people whose research, work, perspective, or lived experience could complicate, deepen, or challenge this inquiry.
Not every guest needs a platform. They need something worth learning from.
